Poltergeist II

"The spirit is very clever...he knows your strength is your love and is trying

to pull the family apart....if he suceeds he will possess Carol Anne..."

The second installment kicks one month later, with Tangina and a mysterious Indian man, who goes by the non Indian name of Taylor, stood on the land that the Freeling's house once occupied. It seems they have dug a deep hole under where the swimming pool used to be, one that runs deep to reveal a cavern full of skeletal remains....and an evil presence.....

Meanwhile the Freeling's are resident at Diane's mothers, and it is apparent that Carol Anne still possesses some form of psychic power. However one evening Carol–Anne answers her toy telephone and speaks to her Gran, only for the family to discover that she passed away that very night. Yet the family have more to worry about when a a trip into town results in a meeting with a sinister preacher for Carol Anne, yet this preacher is more than just a man....he's a spirit, an evil spirit with a particular interest with Carol–Anne. This marks the start of yet more ghoulish goings on...spirits immerse the house and Carol–Anne utters the words 'They're back.' The family initially flee, but Tangina sends Taylor after them and he persuades them to return, offering to protect them. Yet a further appearance by this strange priest, who introduces himself as Henry Kane, once again signifies the onslaught of terror for the family.

We learn that Kane was the leader of a religious sect which disappeared, taking his congregation to an enclosed cave, preparing them for the end of the world. However the world did not end, yet Kane did not let his followers leave...and so they were entombed. Kane is an evil spirit who needs Carol Anne, and he will stop at nothing to get her. As the film wears on Taylor tells the family that they must return to Cuesta Verda to face Kane is in own backyard...and with Taylor and Tangina to guide them the family face a battle against ultimate evil....against the beast....yet having failed to retain Carol Anne the first time Kane will not let her slip through his fingers quite so easily....
