Poltergeist III

"Dont be afraid, we wont harm you...we love you, don't run away from me,

we need you to lead us to the light."

The third film is set in Chicago, and our heroine Carol Anne is now staying with her aunty Pat and Uncle Bruce, and his daughter Donna. They live in a large glass skyscraper filled with mirrors, and the signs that Kane is loitering in the building begin with the mirrors cracking and the temperatures in the building dropping. Carol Anne meanwhile is now attending a school for the gifted, with emotional problems, and it is believed by the resident psychiatrist, Dr Seaton, that she projects her imagination onto others and creates a mass hypnosis. However Tangina, yes she is still around, knows that it is because of this Dr's meddling that Kane has now found Carol–Anne.....

Things get worse for Carol–Anne when her aunt and uncle leave Donna to baby sit her, yet when Donna goes off to a party Kane appears in the mirrors and at the windows, calling to Carol–Anne. She is all on her own, and Kane even appears as an evil Carol–Anne double to try and snare his prize, but Tangina acts by telling Dr Seaton that Carol Anne needs him. Being the cynic he is he goes over to the building and seeks her out, and ultimately experiencing what he describes as 'mass hypnosis.' Meanwhile Donna and her boyfriend Scott need to find Carol Anne, who has now been taken by Kane, yet they too disappear, leaving Bruce and his wife to struggle to understand what has happened to their family, and the building, which continues to become increasingly colder.

An appearance by Tangina informs us that Kane devours heat to gather strength, and that only the love of the couple can save their daughter and Carol Anne. However Kane is clever and evil, and will use a variety of trick to make sure that no–one who loves Carol Anne will survive..he wants her all to himself and will eliminate anyone who poses a threat to his ownership of her. Whilst this film kept the original Carol Anne it was in my opinion a little disappointing, and they should have made an effort to make this film a little bit more darker, more sinister, playing on Kane's evil nature....however they don't do that and the third installment isn't a patch on the first two films.
