Most might think that
listening to 1950s and 1960s crime and sci-fi radio shows to be a little
bizarre (afterall we have television, DVD's, Playstations, etc...) - and pehaps a hobby that should be left to fossils who
relied on this entertainment as they grew up....but
that's just not plausible. I began listening to
some old shows broadcast on BBC Radio 5, before it moved to 24
hour sport, and of particular note were the shows 'Box 13' (starring Alan
ladd) and' X Minus One,' a sci fi radio show which could be prepared
to the modern day X Files. As soon as Radio 5 moved
to 24 hour sport the shows ceased to be broadcast - and for a while I forgot
about them....
However my memories of the
shows have lived on, and thanks to the World Wide Web
I have been able to revive my interest in this easy
listening culture. This
section will review some of those programme's, and it is
my hope that in the future I will be able to put these
shows online and add more show reviews.....
