Sociology (1997)

                                       

 

 

I undertook A Level sociology with the aim of going onto university to complete either a sociology or criminonology degree. I have included lecture notes retained from college, and further socialogical articles are contained within the Criminology section of this website. I have also included my first real study linked to the CJS. This piece of work was the first academic 'study' I had completed, and whilst it is small scale and clumsy, I felt that making it available for all to read may benefit those just taking up similar studies. This particular study is all about the effectiveness of the prison, and so the hypotheisis formulated was....

 

Hypothesis

Prisons do not rehabilitate offenders to lead socially acceptable lives. Instead they simply produce a more hardened criminal who continues to re-offend upon release....
