Conan the Barbarian

I ask you, Father Crom, grant me victory, grant me revenge. And if you will

not grant them to me; then the hell with you!

The movie commences with a young Cimmerian boy, Conan, witnessing the destruction of his village and the death of his parents at the hands of a warlord called Thulsa Doom. The motif of this invading army, a snake with two heads, is heavily imprinted in Conan's mind. He is sold into slavery, and over time he grows strong enough to fight as a gladiator. His owner sees the potential that the young Conan has and even takes him ot the far east to be trained by warriors, and after many successful fights he is set free by his owner. it is at this point that Conan dedicates his life to exacting revenge on Thulsa Doom.

During his travels Conan meets two companions, Subotai and Valeria, both of whom are thieves. The latter becomes Conan's lover, but the trio soon learn of a doomsday cult that makes extensive use of snake symbolism, and after breaking into one of the many towers of the cult Conan discovers that the cult is connected to Thulsa Doom. King Osric of Ophier learns of Conan's findings and offers the trio a fortune if they return his daughter from the clutches of the cult - yet with Conan's two companions not wanting to challenge Doom Conan sets off on his own.

Conan locates the cult, but is captured by Rexor and Thorgrim, who recognize him as an infidel. Conan is beaten and brought before Thulsa Doom. He explains to Conan that the destruction of his village was part of his pursuit of "steel", which he once thought to be the key to power. Doom tells Conan that flesh is much stronger than steel and demonstrates his theory by bidding one of his followers to jump from a high ledge and die. Doom orders that Conan be crucified in the desert on the Tree of Woe. Near death, Conan is rescued by Valeria and Subotai. They return him to a wizard whose spells ward away spirits and ensure Conan's survival. The three then return to rescue the King's daughter, entering Doom's mountain hideaway. Conan and his friends battle Doom's guards and manage to leave with the kings daughter - however Doom shoots Valeria with an arrow laced with snake venom and she dies. Doom then leads an expedition to take back the kings daughter and wears the same armor he wore when destroying Conan's home. A battle ensues and Conan and friends repel the attack - leaving Doom to post a hasty retreat to his mountain temple.....yet Conan follows as he has unfinished business to attend to......
